Have A Cupcake!

Written on Friday, June 23rd, 2017

My Aunt Julie has always been one of my biggest supporters when it comes to my art. I just had to send her a birthday card, and one that I LOVED too! I have to tell you, it was hard to send this one out, but I knew Aunt Julie would love it as much as I do!

I used this sweet digital stamp from Mo’s Digital Pencil. I’ve had her for a long while, but when I went looking for what to put on my Aunt Julie’s card, I saw her and knew it had to be her!

The photos don’t do this card justice! I cut out the sentiment on the front using some glitter paper from MFT. It’s so sparkly! To make the image match in sparkle, I used a Stardust Glitter Gel Pen to go over the stars on the cupcake and the little lines on her birthday hat.

For the inside, I used a sentiment from the Delicious Birthday stamp set by MFT. I tried to find it on any site, but I can’t. 🙁

CDD – Release Day – Dino Dig

Written on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017

I’m showcasing this sweet little dino set today. This set will be available for purchase on Friday, June 23 at 1500 EST. Remember, any US orders over $20, Tara offers free shipping. With this release, that’s not hard to meet.

I love this set! I have a LOT of nephews (most aren’t quite so little anymore), but who doesn’t love dinosaurs?? This set made it super easy to make a masculine card and we all know how tricky those can be for most of us!

For this card, as you can see, I made a slider card. I got really inky while making this card! I took a couple sheets of Neenah 80# Desert Storm cardstock and made a slider mechanism in silhouette studio. I went over all the pieces randomly with Distress Inks. Then, I took out my Distress Oxide inks and went over the those. After that, I sprayed each piece with my distress sprayer for a more textured look. It still didn’t look textured enough for me, so I put some Distress Oxide ink in Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo and added a little bit of water to them. Then I took a paintbrush, picked up the ink and tapped it on my finger over the pieces. I still didn’t have enough texture, so I did the same thing with Black Soot Distress Ink. After that, I remembered that some rock has white splatters in it too. So, I took out some White Gesso and watered it down and repeated the process. Learn from my mistake! I didn’t put my project into a box, so my whole work station (including the lights and my phone) had splatters all over it. Always use the box!

I free hand cut some “rocks” for the dinos to be sitting on and added various layers of foam tape to give the scene a little more depth.

I hope you enjoy this set as much as I have! I’ll be back this week with another project using this set.

Storage Saturday – Holding That Pesky Non-Stick Mat

Written on Saturday, June 17th, 2017

We all have one. We all need it, but I could never find a way to store mine out of the way. I tried clips, velcro… none of it worked. I finally thought if I could attach a paper towel holder to the underside of my desk, I could put the non-stick mat inside there. I couldn’t get the paper towel roll to hold on to anything. So, I remembered I had these clips!

I bought mine at Amazon… So, I took the clips and hooked one on each end of the paper towel holder. Then I stuck the clips to the underside of the desk and that’s all she wrote!
