Welcome Little One

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

I hijacked the CDD blog today to show you this little baby card I made, but I’m also sharing it here.

First, I colored up this sweet little image from the Stars and Wishes stamp set using my Copics. I also colored up a few of the stars and the castle from the set. I popped up the main little sprite on some foam tape to add a visual drop shadow to the ink blended panel. Next, I set to work on my background.

I printed out the sentiment from the Hello Little One Digital Stamp, then I blended Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink, Broken China Distress Oxide ink, and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink to make the lower layer of my galaxy. Then, I blended Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress ink over the edges. I also splattered some watered down white gesso to make some stars and also gave it a light coat of shimmer spray. Afterwards, I cut out a panel using the Fancy Frame Dies. I also used the scalloped frame from that set to cut out a piece of holographic star paper. I then went over the sentiment using a silver gel pen and a sparkle gel pen.

I decided to put the castle on the inside of the card along with a sentiment from the Stars and Wishes stamp set.

For a finishing touch, I used a black glaze pen on all of the eyes, a silver gel pen on the moons on the little sprite’s headband and the castle. I also used my Nuvo Shimmer Pen on all the stars and then covered them in glossy accents. The final finishing touch is a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Silver Star Confetti.

Let’s Color! Starry Bunny baby card (VIDEO)

Saturday, May 9th, 2015

Hey, y’all! I’ve been teasing those of you on my Instagram with this little bunny. I actually did video coloring her up too! But, then I had school volunteer work take over for a bit… Well, needless to say, I’ve finished the card! It’s already been given, and they loved it! It’s for our next door neighbors that I have met once. LOL!

For this card, I used LOTV’s Starry Bunny. Now, this is the first time I’ve EVER colored fur and liked it when I was finished! So, this was new for me too! I used the Doodlebug Sugar & Spice 6×6 paper pad for the papers. I think it turned out SO cute! For the layout, I tweaked a MFT sketch. MFTWSC103. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s “Hello, Baby!” stamp set.

This is not a “popular” stamp, but I LOVE LOTV stamps, and this is perfect for a baby card. There’s another in the series that is a bear. I think I’m going to have to color him to soon… People keep having babies around me!

For the stamped image, I actually did second generation stamping to get the outline. I love the color of the brown ink, but it was just too intense when I first stamped it. There are actually little stars in the stamp, but I wanted them to be more rounded and the Mama Elephant Lots of Stars die, Embellished Tag die, and Confetti die all had the perfect sized stars. You can only tell they’re not the normal shape if you look really closely. That’s how close the sizes were. I decided the little dots mixed in with the stars should be pearls, but I didn’t like how my flat back pearls looked, so I used my Pearl Pen to make some. Not the best, but I’ll keep practicing and I’ll get there.

To make the texture in the fur, I did something my friend Lou taught me. She always does the most amazing fur and one day she said to just scribble. Why yes, it is just that easy! Thank you, Lou! Okay, well I went too dark with mine (problems of a heavy handed colorer), so I also used a rag with colorless blender on it to dab some more texture. I LOVE it! I go over more of what I did in the video below.

For the inside, I wanted a really cute saying. The left side has the baby’s stats and the right side was the spot for the greeting and signatures.

All I did was search “Baby Girl Card” in the Swagbucks search engine. You’ll get a LOT of ideas with that!

That’s it for my card! If you have any questions, you can always comment below and I’ll answer them.

Wee Baby Girl!

Saturday, May 17th, 2014

This weekend I won’t be getting much crafting done as we have Emily’s class bunny staying for the weekend. He goes back to school on Monday and then is taken home by another child next weekend, then on the afternoon of the 29th of May, he’s officially a member of our family! Emily’s teacher is retiring and has asked a couple times if we would adopt him (after me telling her that she was lucky to be getting him back when he stayed at our house the past couple times.) I just had to share a picture of Scooter. 🙂 I did a photo shoot with him a couple months ago and just have to find where I “hid” the photos. They’re in a totally safe place! Scooter is really cool and we already love him to bits! So, you’ll be hearing a lot more about Scooter adventures in the coming months. I’ll also introduce you to my other animals. Yup, plural!

The nurse at my daughter’s school recently had a baby girl. My daughter just loves everyone at her school, so of course I had to make her a card. For this one I chose to color up Wee One from WeeStamps! These images have always intimidated me. So many little things to color that could go wrong. Eek! I decided to try it out and see how it went. I really like the outcome!

This image is adorable and can be used for both a boy or girl! I love Sylvia’s images! They’re all so adorable and have such character! Plus the little surprises. My favorite part is the little bird. I just had to color him up like a little bluebird (a very bright bluebird)!

I love this sentiment! I just screams baby girl! Now I don’t normally use the same sentiment again, but this one I think I’m going to have to keep handy.

I do have to say, Nurse Crystal LOVED the card! I also got a couple more of the teachers to check out my blog after she showed it to them. 🙂 Always a plus! Highlight of giving a card is when the person didn’t know I made cards and says “You made that?!?!” I just love that feeling! Makes me feel talented and creative all at the same time.

Why is she showing us books???
Okay, these are my “go to” books for sentiments for cards and scrapbook pages (Well, I haven’t actually scrapbooked in over 5 years, so we’ll just say cards.) I pulled the sentiment for this card out of the book on the right. I keep these two books within easy reach, above my computer, to pull down whenever I need help with a sentiment for a card.
Just thought I’d share 2 of my favorite “tools”. No, the company didn’t ask me to write this or give me the books for free. My Mom actually bought them for me a LONG time ago and I have kept them handy ever since.
