Wee Baby Girl!

Saturday, May 17th, 2014

This weekend I won’t be getting much crafting done as we have Emily’s class bunny staying for the weekend. He goes back to school on Monday and then is taken home by another child next weekend, then on the afternoon of the 29th of May, he’s officially a member of our family! Emily’s teacher is retiring and has asked a couple times if we would adopt him (after me telling her that she was lucky to be getting him back when he stayed at our house the past couple times.) I just had to share a picture of Scooter. 🙂 I did a photo shoot with him a couple months ago and just have to find where I “hid” the photos. They’re in a totally safe place! Scooter is really cool and we already love him to bits! So, you’ll be hearing a lot more about Scooter adventures in the coming months. I’ll also introduce you to my other animals. Yup, plural!

The nurse at my daughter’s school recently had a baby girl. My daughter just loves everyone at her school, so of course I had to make her a card. For this one I chose to color up Wee One from WeeStamps! These images have always intimidated me. So many little things to color that could go wrong. Eek! I decided to try it out and see how it went. I really like the outcome!

This image is adorable and can be used for both a boy or girl! I love Sylvia’s images! They’re all so adorable and have such character! Plus the little surprises. My favorite part is the little bird. I just had to color him up like a little bluebird (a very bright bluebird)!

I love this sentiment! I just screams baby girl! Now I don’t normally use the same sentiment again, but this one I think I’m going to have to keep handy.

I do have to say, Nurse Crystal LOVED the card! I also got a couple more of the teachers to check out my blog after she showed it to them. 🙂 Always a plus! Highlight of giving a card is when the person didn’t know I made cards and says “You made that?!?!” I just love that feeling! Makes me feel talented and creative all at the same time.

Why is she showing us books???
Okay, these are my “go to” books for sentiments for cards and scrapbook pages (Well, I haven’t actually scrapbooked in over 5 years, so we’ll just say cards.) I pulled the sentiment for this card out of the book on the right. I keep these two books within easy reach, above my computer, to pull down whenever I need help with a sentiment for a card.
Just thought I’d share 2 of my favorite “tools”. No, the company didn’t ask me to write this or give me the books for free. My Mom actually bought them for me a LONG time ago and I have kept them handy ever since.

Crafty wives make their own!

One of the many, many reasons that I hadn’t posted (before the challenge post yesterday) in a couple weeks was because on the 28th of March, my husband and I attended a military ball. Now, normally, most civilians would be saying “Ooh! A ball!” (well, the women anyways). It’s not like the Cinderella balls or anything. Cocktail hour started at 6 and we were home by 10. I guess we’re party poopers when it comes to a ball. We don’t drink, we don’t stay for the dancing. Mainly that’s cause both of our feet are hurting like crazy by then. Before you say “Well, why go if it’s not fun??” I’d never had fun a lot of memorable fun at a ball. I don’t do well in crowds or with new people and end up blurting out the first things that come to mind. Sometimes funny, sometimes not. It’s a social defensive technique I have. Okay… This one, I actually had fun at! We were sitting with people my husband works with and they were really cool, down to Earth people! They all kinda knew that I was nervous.

Okay, enough babbling and onto the reason for this post. 🙂 I actually have a Thirty-one bag that says “Another Hobby???”. I’m always trying out new hobbies or crafts. So, I’ve had my ball gown for a few years. We move so often that I can wear it more than once and no one knows. SHHH! Course, it’s also a lovely dress and I LOVE it! Do you know how hard it is to find bronze or copper formal jewelry? You can’t find it! Well, I did find some, but I wasn’t about to pay $250 for a pair of earrings that I could easily make for about 1/8 of that. Plus, I’d much rather spend that money on crafting supplies! So, this year, I decided I was going to make some earrings to match the dress. I took my husband to Michaels and Hobby Lobby with me to help me pick out the beads and findings I needed. Let me tell you, my husband has some TALENT when it comes to color matching! Seriously! He’s picking up beads and handing them to me. I get them all home (yes, dim witted me didn’t take anything from the dress to help with color) and lay them on the gown… They’re all a perfect match! I didn’t want to buy new head pins or eye pins because I have a bunch, so I used my copic marker, E59, and my air compressor to “color” the silver pieces.

These are the earrings I made. They’re actually pretty big, but they go perfectly with the dress!

Sorry for the large photo. I just LOVE them! You can see in the detail that some of color I added to the findings is
coming off, but they lasted for the time I needed it! Plus, I can always do touch ups later.

Isn’t my honey handsome?? I think I’ll keep him! Now, you can see how large these earrings were in the photo, but they matched perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by!

it’s purr-fection!

Fair Warning!!!    I’m a terrible blogger

After a year of not posting on my old blog, Scrappy Nites, having it expire and not being able to get it back, I decided to start a new blog with the same name I was using before. I’ve always been a perfectionist and loved cats (any animal, really), so naturally I’ve been calling myself “The Perfectionist Crafter” for a long time. “Scrappy Nites” no longer suited me as my kids are older and I tend to have more time during the day to be creative. 🙂 I always have been a purr-fectionist, so it fits. 🙂

Now, you might be asking, what about the old posts? Well, silly me forgot to get the archives off the server before deleting them. I totally forgot they were in a database file rather than a php file. Wonderful stuff that, me being a computer nerd, I should’ve remembered. So, I don’t have the old posts, but I DO have the old photos, so I can add them over time. Or you can just go view my Copic Color gallery. Or I have them all in my Facebook photos. Anywhoo… I guess this means I’m starting fresh! Yes, I’m kicking myself for not saving that off because now it means more coding work for me.

So, what will I post here? I’m thinking projects, coloring for fun, life updates (don’t worry, no over sharing, family drama, or overall negativity), family photos, crafty things, nail designs, etc… Yup… ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I want! Now, hopefully since this has been created and tweaked I can get to creating some things. Kinda been holding off because having an actual blog has been weighing on me. I’ve been crafty and I’ll be adding those things in as I go. Eventually I want to get where this is at least a weekly thing for me. I’d LOVE to increase my followers and subscribers so if you’d like to help me out in that, I’d greatly appreciate it!
