Ocean Friends Spinner

Friday, July 7th, 2017

Can you believe we’re already at release week for the July release for Craftin’ Desert Divas? I must be having fun because time is flying!
So, for Day 1 of Release week. Today design team members are showcasing “Jawsome”, “Ocean Friends”, and “Ocean Border Dies”. These will be available for purchase in the CDD shop on July 10th at Noon EST. Plus, this month there’s a release special: Tara will add some “surprise” crafty goodie to every order placed on or before 7/15/17. This could be a mini stamp, mini die or sequin mix. No request accepted. And, also remember to place your orders early as there is will be NO shipping from 7/13/17 through 7/19/17. Shipping will resume on 7/20/17.

Okay, onto my card! I’m using the Ocean Friends stamp set and also the Ocean Border Dies to make this wonderful spinner card!

For the spinning mechanism, I used a penny, but included in the Ocean Border dies is a spinner track and a little circle to use for the spinner. I used the circle to cut the hole in my panel. Then I attached the orca to a penny using foam tape. I just LOVE how this came out! I didn’t want my orca to spin freely. I wanted you to have to actually spin it. This way I can stage him how I want and then send it.

For the background, I cut out a panel using the Fancy Frames Dies, then I used the Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink and the Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink. I just LOVE these inks and the new colors are SO gorgeous! For the water part of my scene, I used the Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink and the Broken China Distress Oxide ink. I die cut the water edge using the new Ocean Border Dies. I just love that stitched edge and these dies have it on both sides!

I colored up my orca using Copics (colors listed below) and cut him out using my Scan N Cut machine. This is a new toy in my craft room and I’m in LOVE!
To put the piece together, I used 3 layers of foam tape. This way my orca has plenty of spin room and won’t get caught on the sequins or the waves. I only put one layer of foam tape under the panel so that my orca doesn’t move freely. I know, PETA is going to be mad. 😉
For finishing touches, I used a Nuvo shimmer pen on the star fish, sprayed the water piece with a shimmer spray, and added sequins from two different mixes of CDD sequins. I just LOVE how this came out and I hope you do too!

Welcome Little One

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

I hijacked the CDD blog today to show you this little baby card I made, but I’m also sharing it here.

First, I colored up this sweet little image from the Stars and Wishes stamp set using my Copics. I also colored up a few of the stars and the castle from the set. I popped up the main little sprite on some foam tape to add a visual drop shadow to the ink blended panel. Next, I set to work on my background.

I printed out the sentiment from the Hello Little One Digital Stamp, then I blended Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink, Broken China Distress Oxide ink, and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink to make the lower layer of my galaxy. Then, I blended Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress ink over the edges. I also splattered some watered down white gesso to make some stars and also gave it a light coat of shimmer spray. Afterwards, I cut out a panel using the Fancy Frame Dies. I also used the scalloped frame from that set to cut out a piece of holographic star paper. I then went over the sentiment using a silver gel pen and a sparkle gel pen.

I decided to put the castle on the inside of the card along with a sentiment from the Stars and Wishes stamp set.

For a finishing touch, I used a black glaze pen on all of the eyes, a silver gel pen on the moons on the little sprite’s headband and the castle. I also used my Nuvo Shimmer Pen on all the stars and then covered them in glossy accents. The final finishing touch is a scattering of Pretty Pink Posh Silver Star Confetti.

This is my second post for today! I know, right?!?!? Here’s the link to the first one. June Mood Board Card

I wanted to share a card I made for the Tiddly Inks Challenge called “Make it a Rectangle”.

I colored her up with Copics (colors listed below).

I just love all of the characters that Christy draws, but I seriously LOVE the Molly’s! Plus, I needed a thank you card for my friend Christina, who gave me my new little puppies!!!

This is from the first night we brought them home. The one on the left is a little boy named Sherlock. The one on the right is a little girl named Lady. They are so sweet and precious!
