Birthdays With Anya Lifts

Thursday, May 22nd, 2014

Well, I’ve actually made a card and didn’t have anyone in mind for it. I was just coloring for fun and working on trying some higher contrast. I really like how Anya Lifts came out! That’s why I made her into a card! 🙂

I’ve been trying to push myself out of my comfort zone. After all, artists don’t just stick to one way. They’re constantly trying out new ways. 🙂 One of the hardest things for me with cardmaking is coming up with the card layout without making it the same over and over. So, this time I decided to use a sketch from My Favorite Things.

I have been hoarding saving this Hip, Hip, Hooray paper pad for months! Just waiting for the perfect image! I think I found it.

I’ve had Anya Lifts for a while and hadn’t ever inked her up. I’ve always loved that curly hair though! Plus, I had to color it in a “new to me” color for auburn. I realized that most of the hair I color is brown or blonde.

I happened upon the little outline of the sentiment on accident. I had originally stamped the sentiment and embossed it in white and didn’t like it. It just didn’t show up enough. Great thing about clear stamps is you can see exactly where you’re stamping. I re-stamped the greeting just a little offset and then heat embossed it with black powder. What you get is that really cool look you see there. 🙂 Plus, I went over the black parts that didn’t stick with a black marker to make them thicker. Now, I really like how this sentiment came out!

For the inside, I used another sentiment from the same stamp set and some more of the matching paper from the paper pad.
