Christmas Cheer – Top 3 Copic Combos

Thursday, October 5th, 2017

Good morning! This week, over on the Craftin’ Desert Divas blog, some of the design team is sharing their top 3 Copic marker colors combinations and I HAD to share mine with you!

Mine are based around 2 things. 1.) I LOVE foxes! 2.) Christmas is coming very soon!

My first color combination I’m sharing is the one I ALWAYS use for foxes. You can make it lighter or darker by adding more or less of the darker colors. I found this color combination when I was looking up photos of foxes, I found a photo I liked, printed it, and used my Copic swatches to match the different colors. I love that it’s not too red, not too orange, and not too brown. It feels just right to me! It works great for CDD images because there are a TON of foxes in the shop!

My fox color combo is (dark to light) YR27, E33, YR16, YR12

The second color combination I’m choosing is my Red color combination. I LOVE this bright, Christmassy red for my Christmas cards, and it’s my go to red for everything.

The color combination for red is (dark to light) R59, R39, R29, R24

My third and last color combination is the one I LOVE for a nice Christmas green. And, it’s easy to make your highlights and shadows with this one. It does take a little more blending though.

The color combination for green is (dark to light) G28, G46, YG17, YG23

I’m attaching 3 photos to show the use of these color combinations. These adorable images are from Santa’s Helpers. Aren’t they cute?!?! Plus, I threw in a couple extra color combos I always use too.

So, now, to make my project, I pulled out my Shake It Up dies and also my Inside Scalloped Circle dies. I used the circle from the Shake It Up dies along with the medium scalloped circle from the Inside Scalloped Circle dies to make my frame.

I cut an additional 2 circles, from Bristol smooth cardstock, from the Shake It Up dies, for my background. One circle I inked up with Distress Inks, and the other I cut into the 2 snow banks.

You can see my adorable little scene inside my shaker. I LOVE how this came out!

As you can see below, I cut the base from some dark brown cardstock, and then cut the plate from some silver metallic paper. After stamping my sentiment, I attached it to the base with brads.

This card did end up being a bit thick, so it’s one that will either be shipped in a box of presents or hand delivered.

I do hope you like my card! Thanks for letting me share 3 of my favorite color combinations with you!

Harvest Wishes Halloween Duo

Friday, September 8th, 2017

This is my second post for today. To see my previous post using the new CDD Happy Camper set, click here.

For the September Release, the divas are showcasing two new stamp sets today. This set is called Harvest Wishes & it’s another favorite for this release. Now, I don’t normally make Halloween cards, but when I saw these two mice, I HAD to!

To make these cute shaped cards, I used the CDD Stitched in Circles dies. I only added a couple other circle dies to make the layers. I cut the little wreath from that set using glitter paper. For a finishing touch, I did add Spectrum Noir Shimmer pen to the bows and the colored circle on both cards.

I colored up these little cuties to match the Ghouls & Goodies 6×6 paper pad from Doodlebug.

Thank you for joining us for the September Release. Come back and visit me as I have 3 more cards from this release to share with you!

Floating Birthday Wishes

Saturday, August 12th, 2017

Hey, y’all! I’m sharing a card I created for the Craftin’ Desert Divas August Mood Board Challenge! To play along, just use CDD products with the mood board inspiration, and then share it on social media. Be sure to tag Craftin’ Desert Divas with #cddmonthly for a chance to win! More information is available in the Files section of the Craftin’ Desert Divas Gallery Facebook Group.

In this theme, I see birthday stuff! So, I made a cute little birthday card using the “Happy Hello” digital stamp. This stamp is SO cute and I’ve had my eye on it for a while to make a birthday card.

I colored her up with Copic markers to match Doodlebug’s Fairy Tales set. Can you tell I like Doodlebug? For this one, I decided to make a shaker card. I cut out everything using my Scan N’ Cut. I only had to cut a little with my craft knife to get the insides of the balloon strings. I did decide to use a silver thread for the balloon strings instead of the black lines. Yeah, it took a little longer, but I think it was worth it.

To make the frame for the shaker, I used the Inside Scalloped Rectangle dies from Craftin’ Desert Divas. These have very quickly become a go-to die for me. For the filler in my shaker window, I used hot pink and purple micro beads, clear iridescent seed beads, and iridescent star sequins. I just LOVE how it came out! It’s very girly and since I have 8 nephews and only 2 nieces I don’t get to make very many girly cards.
For a finishing touch, there’s an extra thick layer of Glossy Accents over the balloons. This is because when the first layer was almost dry, I was messing around with it thinking I could be careful and finish the card while it was still wet and stuck my thumb in it. 🙁 So, I had to put another layer.

For the inside, I decided to use a little sentiment from the 6×6 Fairy Tales paper pad. I think it looks perfect!
