welcome baby kailey & baby kyler!

Wow, I’m really bad at blogging! I actually HAVE been up in the craft room playing around, just haven’t blogged. I’ve also been working on a way to be able to video making a few cards in the future.

Okay, so recently I was telling y’all about some baby cards I made for a set of twins. Well, I finally got to mail them off and they were received, so I can share them here. 🙂

Now, when you ask online “Should I get twins 1 card for both or 1 each?” The most common answer is 1 for each because they’re always having to share a birthday and a lot of other stuff. SO, I decided to make 2 cards. 1 for each. 🙂 I wanted them to still be able to go together though. I tried to come up with a card that could be attached to the other one but still look good apart. Didn’t happen. Finally, I decided that paper styles from the same company “should” match. So, what better company than Echo Park? Their stuff always looks so cute!

Now, you can see what I mean about matching but not matching. 🙂

First up is Kailey’s card. Mainly because I finished it first. It’s always been easier for me to do girl cards. The right side of the card is cut short so that that side of the card is finished with lace. I LOVE that look! You’ll see how I hid the ends on the inside in a bit.

When I saw the Beatrice and Beauregard bear stamps from C.C. Designs, I KNEW they’d be perfect for baby cards! I colored her up and put her in the 3D style. Then I had some fun matting and playing with girly papers, lace, and ribbon. Oh, and glitter!!! Can’t forget the glitter! Gotta raise a girl right!

Now, that die cut you see down in the front that says “Baby girl”, that’s a silhouette cut file from Echo Park. It was actually designed to match this line of paper. I cut it out in white and then used Copic markers to color it to match my patterned papers.

You can see the depth of the little girl.

Now, onto the inside! You can see on the left that I hid the ends of the ribbon and lace behind that adorable little lamb!

Isn’t this just the sweetest??? The little lamb in the corner is also a silhouette cut file I bought from their store. It matches the little lamb that is on the paper just perfectly! LOVE IT! Once again, I cut all the pieces out in white and used my Copic markers to color and shade to match the paper I used. The frame is also a cut file, but I actually cut it from a pink iridescent cardstock.

Isn’t her name beautiful?? I just love it!

I just love the little poem I found for the inside of this card. Just seems to fit a little daughter. I know mine is all this and more!

Now, I guess we get to move on to Kyler’s card! His is adorable too and just shouts little boy! I love the colors Echo Park picked to go into each line!

I chose almost the same layout for Kyler’s card as I did Kailey’s. After all, I did want them to look like they go together. 🙂 I got the idea for the star bursts around the main image of Beauregard from the stars in the background paper. I’ve had the little brown pompom ribbon for a while. The banner was made from little strips of paper that I cut into triangles and then punched with a star punch.

The “Baby boy” die cut in the right panel is from the same cut file I used on Kailey’s card. I just love that they match!

Here’s where you can see just how “tall” this image is.

Now, with this card being more square, I had some more room to play with. I chose to put the little bear next to his stats because they didn’t have that little alligator available and well, the front image is a bear. Once again, it was cut out in white and I colored it with my Copic markers.

Now, you know me… I found a fun sentiment for the inside. Totally describes my Simon, but also most little boys I know. 🙂 The brown background had large white lines on it and I didn’t like that much white on it. I was afraid it was going to take away from the white behind the sentiment. So, I took a coordinating Copic marker and colored it. I didn’t worry about blending and making all the colors smooth, just getting it on there. I wanted that blotchy look that was on all the other die cuts I colored.

I do hope they like these as much as I do.

I found a card that I never uploaded, but then I also made it here recently…

Now, normally I LOVE C.C. Designs, but right now I’m kinda miffed at them. 🙁 For the new release for March 2014, they’re not releasing anything in digital stamps. Now, being a military wife, who has to move a lot, that upsets me. We’re moved by weight. Digital stamps weigh less than rubber stamps, meaning I can buy more digital stamps than rubber. This is why I don’t have a lot of rubber stamps. I still love the designs and have another 2 cards coming up using some of their digital stamps, but I prefer digital. I’m a technical nerd! I can do anything with a digital stamp! With a rubber stamp, your hands are a little bit more tied. There’s some modifications you can do, but mainly you’re stuck. Okay, little rant over… Now onto the card.

I made this cutie using a sweet stamp from C.C. Designs.
