VIDEO – Holly Jolly Day 4 CDD October Release

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

I’m back with my second post for Day 4 of the Craftin’ Desert Diva’s October Release! To read the first one, click here. Yes, you read that right. There’s a video!!!

This card is featuring the little snow girl from the new set Holly Jolly and a little snowman from Christmas Wishes. As soon as I saw this little girl I KNEW I wanted to do a no lines coloring, but I had no idea what I wanted to do for the card. Well, since making my fox shaker card, I’ve been obsessed with this Shake It Up die set from CDD! So, I guess I’m making a shaker snow globe card again!

I LOVE how the coloring turned out on them! It looks like those vintage valentines you see sometimes. Now, one thing I forgot about doing no lines coloring is it’s really difficult to hide your lines when you’re doing white, so you can see some of my lines, but I feel like that gives it that vintage look.

I decided that I wanted to use the new Doodlebug Milk & Cookies paper pad to make my card & the background inside my snow globe. Inside the snow globe, I used Flower Soft in Artic White as my “snow”. I also put Nuvo Glitter Accents in Fresh Snowfall on the snow banks.

For my sentiment, I really wanted to use this one from the new Christmas Wishes stamp set. I also knew I wanted to do it in pink foil and make some matching hearts to go inside the shaker. I cut out my sentiment with the Stitched In Circle dies and my hearts with the confetti from Pocket Pieces HI dies, ran them through my Mini Minc, and added an eyelet to the sentiment. The tag is tied to the snow globe with Lawn Fawn Silver Sparkle twine.

To build up my shaker, I used 3 layers of adhesive backed foam that I cut out with my dies. So, you can see this card is VERY thick. I won’t send it through the mail on its own.

I do hope I’ve inspired you to make some snow globes on your cards.

Love Birds

Sunday, September 3rd, 2017

Hey y’all! I’ve got something really cool to share with you today! Remember that awesome box card die from Craftin’ Desert Divas? Well, know how shadow boxes are really popular right now? I’ve got a video showing how to turn your box card into a shadow box card!

Mine only has 1 little insert inside it, but I thought that’s all it needed. I used 2 birds and a whole bunch of flowers & leaves from Birds of a Feather. I just LOVE how this came out!

I started out using Watercolor paper for my box. To turn it into a shadow box, I just cut off the flaps & used the little rectangle that is used as a mat to cut a hole in one side. My insert is cut from transparency so that it’s “invisible”.

I went on ahead and colored and cut out my images. I do hope you like my shadow box card and I hope this gives you some inspiration to alter what your dies are used for.

Let’s Color! Starry Bunny baby card (VIDEO)

Saturday, May 9th, 2015

Hey, y’all! I’ve been teasing those of you on my Instagram with this little bunny. I actually did video coloring her up too! But, then I had school volunteer work take over for a bit… Well, needless to say, I’ve finished the card! It’s already been given, and they loved it! It’s for our next door neighbors that I have met once. LOL!

For this card, I used LOTV’s Starry Bunny. Now, this is the first time I’ve EVER colored fur and liked it when I was finished! So, this was new for me too! I used the Doodlebug Sugar & Spice 6×6 paper pad for the papers. I think it turned out SO cute! For the layout, I tweaked a MFT sketch. MFTWSC103. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn’s “Hello, Baby!” stamp set.

This is not a “popular” stamp, but I LOVE LOTV stamps, and this is perfect for a baby card. There’s another in the series that is a bear. I think I’m going to have to color him to soon… People keep having babies around me!

For the stamped image, I actually did second generation stamping to get the outline. I love the color of the brown ink, but it was just too intense when I first stamped it. There are actually little stars in the stamp, but I wanted them to be more rounded and the Mama Elephant Lots of Stars die, Embellished Tag die, and Confetti die all had the perfect sized stars. You can only tell they’re not the normal shape if you look really closely. That’s how close the sizes were. I decided the little dots mixed in with the stars should be pearls, but I didn’t like how my flat back pearls looked, so I used my Pearl Pen to make some. Not the best, but I’ll keep practicing and I’ll get there.

To make the texture in the fur, I did something my friend Lou taught me. She always does the most amazing fur and one day she said to just scribble. Why yes, it is just that easy! Thank you, Lou! Okay, well I went too dark with mine (problems of a heavy handed colorer), so I also used a rag with colorless blender on it to dab some more texture. I LOVE it! I go over more of what I did in the video below.

For the inside, I wanted a really cute saying. The left side has the baby’s stats and the right side was the spot for the greeting and signatures.

All I did was search “Baby Girl Card” in the Swagbucks search engine. You’ll get a LOT of ideas with that!

That’s it for my card! If you have any questions, you can always comment below and I’ll answer them.
