New on YouTube! Lets Color! VIDEO!!

Monday, February 16th, 2015

Hey, y’all! I’ve been busy, just can’t post a lot of what I’ve done because one is for my Mom, who frequents my blog a lot, another is for my Dad (my Mom would show him), and one is for my Honey. I just don’t post any of his completed because they’re kinda personal. 🙂 Okay, so, a lot of you know that I have a YouTube channel… If you didn’t, SURPRISE!!

My YouTube channel…

I’ve also added my social media links in the top of the sidebar, just in case you’d like to see other places I post. I post a LOT to instagram because it’s so easy to do. Okay, on to what this post is about… On instagram, I’ve had a few people say they’d love videos of how I color. So, I’ve decided to do a series on YouTube called “Lets Color!!!”. I’ll do close up videos of the coloring of an image, sped up (because I take so long to color) with no voice overs. Now, about 90% of the time I can’t explain what I’m doing. It just looks wrong and I’ll work on it until it looks right. This is why the no voice overs. I’d also leave in any mistakes and how I corrected them. I try to put non-annoying music, but I have yet to find any in my program. These don’t seem to take me long to edit. Just take out the parts where I am thinking about what color I should make something, or my wrist going under the camera because I need a different marker. I’ll do these in parts so they’re not so long. Also, if there’s only 1 part that you’d like to see colored, if it’s a main part it should have its own video. I’d like to do them on a schedule, but we all know me and schedules. So, maybe if I get into a rhythm I can do them weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Should be easier when we move to our new house. My craft room will be WITH the family and not where it’s 40 degrees in here.

So, I have my first “Lets Color” video up… I’m coloring “Owl Treasure Our Friendship” by Whiff of Joy. This is one of their digital stamps. I’ll embed the videos below, but if you’d like to be notified as soon as I’ve posted a video, please go to my YouTube channel and subscribe.

Star of Bethlehem + VIDEO

Saturday, December 13th, 2014

Hope your season is going well! Mine is! Got the tree up and decorated. Need to finished decorating the outside and the rest of the house. 🙂

Today, I’m sharing a card with a video showing me speed coloring it. It’s a VERY long video!!! The digital image I used is “Star of Bethlehem” by Crissy Armstrong. Yes, this is another of those pesky images that was intimidating me.

I’ve actually had this card finished since before Thanksgiving. I have been trying to find the time to edit the video. We’re getting down into crunch time for my Christmas cards to go out, and you know? That’s okay. Even if they get there after Christmas. I’m hoping everyone will realize that I put my time and love into them and they’ll NEVER get another card like it.

I kept the card layout simple so I could show off the image. I really like how it came out. 🙂

To help accent the image, I used some Silver Sparkle Cord from Lawn Fawn to go behind it. To make the sky and the star pop, I used Dark Chocolate cardstock from Simon Says Stamp for my card base. I stamped my greeting from the Simon Says Stamp “Merry Everything” stamp set. I then heat embossed it with some Ranger Silver Embossing Powder

To make the star and its light look magical, I used some clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to accent that area. You can’t see all of it in the photo, but it does show some of it. I also used Crystal Effects on the star and donkey’s eyes.

For the inside, I wanted to keep it simple and very elegant, so I used this sentiment from a Hero Arts Christmas stamp set I have. I also heat embossed it using the same embossing powder from the front of the card.

That’s it for me today. I hope you like my card.
