It was good to sea you!

Hey y’all! I just got back from a wonderful, relaxing vacation just in time to hijack the Craftin’ Desert Divas blog again! I shared a card I made using a couple of the new sets from the July release! I just can’t get enough of these cuties!

To make my card, I used stamps from Summer Vibin’ and Sunny Smiles. I grabbed my go to dies from CDD, the Fancy Frames dies. I then measured in 1/8″ from the stitching to make the interior of my frame. I traced the line lightly with my mechanical pencil and then used my ruler and x-acto knife to cut on the lines. Then I used a white eraser to erase my lines.
I used Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink for the beach section of my background, then used Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink to watercolor into my sky. The ocean part is done by blending the Distress Oxide inks, Peacock Feathers & Broken China together. To make the waves, I inked up some vellum and then cut it using the waves (or clouds) die from the Outdoor Landscape 2 die set. This is another go to die set I use all the time from CDD!

I chose to use the unicorn, tiger, and hippo for my card. I colored them up, using Copic markers of course, with every intention of using a Doodlebug paper pad behind the scalloped border, but totally forgot and adhered it down to the card base. I tried to use Undu, but there was too many different kinds of adhesive that would be effected, so I just decided to leave it. I think it helps make the images the main focus of the card though, so it grew on me!

As you can see, I added a double layer of foam adhesive to give it some pop in different areas! Part of the umbrella is popped up so it hangs over the frame. Everything else is adhered using Matte Medium. For some finishing touches, I used the Nuvo Shimmer pen on the unicorn’s mane. I also used the black glaze gel pen to color in the hippo’s lenses and dot the eyes on the two floaties. To finish off my card, I used a sentiment from the Sunny Smiles set, cut it into a banner and adhered it using 1 layer of foam tape.

I do hope you like me card! Be sure to join us later this week over on the Craftin’ Desert Divas August Release Event page as some more fun is just getting started!

CDD – July Monthly Challenge

Tuesday, July 18th, 2017

I’m sharing a pop-up card I’ve made for the CDD monthly challenge! This months theme is so cute that I just had to make another card. To play along, just use CDD products with the mood board inspiration, and then share it on social media. Be sure to tag Craftin’ Desert Divas with #cddmonthly for a chance to win! More information is available in the Craftin’ Desert Divas Gallery Facebook Group.

For the front of my card, I used the hermit crabs from Craftin’ Desert Divas’s new Ocean Friends stamp set! The sentiment is from the new Mermaid Lagoon stamp set. I popped up the middle crab on some foam tape.

For the inside, I used the Ocean Border dies to make two borders. For one, I just cut off the coral and seaweed. I colored these up using my copic airbrush set. To make the splatter, I used the brush end of the nib in the marker holder. I also made my own cuts to get it to be a pop-up. For the top of the back panel, I used Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers, and Broken China Distress Oxide inks. For the bottom, I used the same technique with my copic airbrush system.

Here, you can see the pop up from the side. I made it about a half inch deep because I wanted there to be a lot of depth in this part. Isn’t that little octopus using the hermit crab as a party hat adorable?!?!? I used the seahorses, seaweed, and seashell from Mermaid Lagoon to help complete the scene. I also used a starfish from Summer Vibin’.

To make this little crab’s string actually show up, I just traced over it with a copic marker before putting it through my Scan N Cut.

I had to bring some starfish in to finish off the setting. An ocean party isn’t complete without a few starfish. I used the starfish from the Mermaid Lagoon stamp set. I also used the sentiment from the Mermaid Lagoon stamp set. I thought it went perfectly with my card.

I do hope you like my card and I also hope you join us over at the Craftin’ Desert Divas Gallery on Facebook and play along!

I’m sorry, but there are too many Copics to list! I’d be putting down over 100 marker numbers.

I will have to add a supply list when I return home on the 28th.

Cardmaker Magazine Bloghop

Friday, July 14th, 2017

The Craftin’ Desert Divas have teamed up with Cardmaker Magazine for a summer blog hop!

It is really excited to be working with the Cardmaker Magazine Team on this blog hop! Be sure you hop along and leave a comment on each blog along the way for a chance to win a $75 CDD shop credit. We will be choosing from all the comments left on all of the team’s blog posts, so the more you comment, the more chance to win! Winner announced 7/19.

For my card, I created an underwater scene using the new Mermaid Lagoon and Ocean Border Dies. To make my scene, I cut out a panel from the Fancy Frames dies and inked it up with Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers, and Broken China Distress Oxide ink. I then splattered it with water and added a Shimmer Spray. For the bottom part of the scene, I die cut the same panel from Neenah 80# cardstock and colored it in with Copics. I added Nuvo Shimmer pen to the coral to really make it stand out.
Nothing is popped up on foam tape, so this card will go really well through the mail! I fussy cut my images out (silly me didn’t think to use the Scan N Cut) so there would be no distracting white outlines.

Thanks for stopping by & I really hope you liked my addition to the Cardmakers Magazine Summer Blog Hop!

Now, you should be headed to see
