Timber!

Written on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017

Hey, y’all! It’s release week again at Craftin’ Desert Divas! Today, we’re releasing Timber & Fall Border dies. This IS my favorite set from this release! I just L-O-V-E, double puffy heart, it!

I colored up my images using Copics (listed below). I love how these came out! I wanted this to be a shaker card at first, but then I was afraid the sequins would take away from the scene! For the background, I sprayed a lightened coat of B52 with my airbrush system. Then I die cut the tree line from the new “Fall Border” dies out of kraft cardstock.
I did a super simple dotting technique to get my texture on the trees. I made sure to go under my images with a dark shade that I used for my ground to make a shadow for my images. This way they don’t look like they’re floating in space.

These little guys are my two favorite images from this set. I just love how cute they are!

To stack my scene, I cut out 5 of the middle rectangle frame from the Inside Scalloped Rectangles die set. I adhered the ground part of the tree line to the base of the card, but mounted the tree tops up on a small piece of foam tape to give it dimension. The two little critters were just adhered using Multi Medium in Matte.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to grab this set in the release when it becomes available on September 8 at 1500 EST. Mark your calendars!

Love Birds

Written on Sunday, September 3rd, 2017

Hey y’all! I’ve got something really cool to share with you today! Remember that awesome box card die from Craftin’ Desert Divas? Well, know how shadow boxes are really popular right now? I’ve got a video showing how to turn your box card into a shadow box card!

Mine only has 1 little insert inside it, but I thought that’s all it needed. I used 2 birds and a whole bunch of flowers & leaves from Birds of a Feather. I just LOVE how this came out!

I started out using Watercolor paper for my box. To turn it into a shadow box, I just cut off the flaps & used the little rectangle that is used as a mat to cut a hole in one side. My insert is cut from transparency so that it’s “invisible”.

I went on ahead and colored and cut out my images. I do hope you like my shadow box card and I hope this gives you some inspiration to alter what your dies are used for.

You’re Fabulous!

Written on Saturday, August 26th, 2017

Today, I’m sharing with you a card I made for the Mood Board Challenge over at the CDD Facebook Group. To play along, just use CDD products with the mood board inspiration, and then share it on social media. Be sure to tag Craftin’ Desert Divas with #cddmonthly for a chance to win! More information is available in the Files section of the Craftin’ Desert Divas Gallery Facebook Group.

I’m using the new Tickled Pink stamp set from the August Release. I just LOVE these flamingos! This one is my favorite! I paired it up with the Inside Scalloped Rectangle dies (also released this month), and the Flag Banner dies.

To make my focal point, I blended Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink for the beach, Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink for the ocean, and Broken China Distress Oxide ink for the sky. I did all of this onto some watercolor paper. I stamped my image onto some Copic Xpressit cardstock and cut it out using my Scan N Cut. I cut 5 layers of the Inside Scalloped Rectangle die to make my frame.

To finish off my card, I stamped the “You’re fabulous” sentiment from this set onto some Neenah and cut it out using the Flag Banner dies. Then I popped this up over my frame. For a finishing touch, I added Glossy Accents to her eye to give it some dimension.

I do hope you like my card and I also hope you play along with us! You have until August 31 to play along.
